The service station was open this morning so we were able to refuel and continue on the Karumba. It was an enjoyable stop in Burketown and we were surprised as we'd had a few people tell us not to bother stopping there.
On the way to Karumba we made a quick stop at Leichardt Falls which are between Burketown and Normanton. It was would have been a great stop for a swim but unfortunately there are crocs there so we keep going and arrived in Karumba early afternoon. We checked in to the Karumba Point Caravan Park for one night and set up camp and spent the afternoon sitting around chatting before going for a drive and stopping at the Sunset Tavern for a few beers. We drove home and got changed and headed back to the tavern for dinner and to watch the sunset over the water from our seats in the beer garden. We played a few games of pool and then started the walk back to the caravan park, which was about 2km's away, but Matt flagged down a car and got us a lift (with the chef from the pub!)

We packed up camp this morning and moved 3km's down the road to another caravan park. Then we got there, set up and unpacked and then......packed up the camper again as Matt noticed there was something wrong with the wheels and he wanted to get them checked out.Matt came back about half an hour later with the news that we had to pack up the camper and take it back the following day....yay!
We spent the arvo lazing around by the pool and then went to Happy Hour at the caravan park to meet some grey nomads - there are hundreds of them up here, squashed in to the three different caravan parks. After happy hour we went to the camp kitchen and cooked dinner and watched some TV.Then we had a few hands of 500 before hitting the sack.

Got up and packed up the camper.....again and then pottered around camp until midday when we went on a fishing charter for the arvo.Matt and Mel caught a couple of blue nose salmon each but Andy didn't catch anything.....he was the only one on the boat who didn't catch a fish.Four hours was long enough on the boat and we were all very happy to get back on land again. The boys cleaned the fish and Mel tidied up a bit and then we went to the local fish and chip shop for some supposedly 'world famous fish and chips'.We had some barramundi which was lovely but the rest was a bit ordinary.
