Day 27. Memphis, Tennessee.
Started the day today with a visit to the Peabody Hotel. We arrived in plenty of time for the "duck parade" where each day the Duck Master escorts the five resident mallards from their penthouse suite to the fountain in the hotel lobby. It was a novel experience! From there we looked around the Civil Rights Museum, which is a big thing here and is based at the motel where Martin Luther King was assassinated. It filled in our remaining American history elements and brought us up to date with politics and social issues in USA. We finished off the day with a tour on a replica paddle steamer to see Memphis from the river. Nice to have a day without touching the bikes! Ready now to head off onto the flat lands of Arkansas before the rains from Hurricane Harvey arrive next week! At the moment it looks like we will bypass them, but we'll be keeping an eye on the forecast.
