Day 25. Memphis, Tennessee.
A long day of traveling today to get to our Memphis base - 250 miles in total.
We started out on the Natchez Trace Parkway for around 100 miles before turning west. It was a lovely 55 mph twisty road and probably one of the last interesting ones for a while.
On the way into Memphis we stopped to buy tyres for the bikes so they could be fitted tomorrow. Unfortunately Jane forgot to lock her panniers and one flew open on the motorway. Shopping trip now required for replacement waterproof trousers.
We did make a bit of an odd sight coming into our posh hotel for tonight with the spare tyres tied to the pillion seat. Got even more stares at the Marriot when we loaded up the luggage trolley (see photo).
The local kids loved us though and they all wanted to sit on the bikes when we arrived - shame we couldn't really understand what they were saying, due to their accent.
We finished off the evening with a meal in the centre of Memphis near the hotel.
