There was another backpackers - Amphitheatre which was nearest to the Amphitheatre of the mountains - strangely enough. This place is in stark contrast to the other lodge at Sani Pass. Here there is a sauna, jacuzzi and climbing cave in the bar, and more importantly interesting people to talk to.
Cool music was playing and the first night there was lots of locals to see the live local band. Tomorrow we are going into the mountains to the base of the worlds second highest waterfall (we are seeing the highest later on).
We went up the gorge very pretty and dramatic looking up at a km of vertical cliffs to were the waterfall lives. The waterfall is just a trickle this time of year so did not see it and luckily we did not see the baboons that we reported on the walk (Liz had selected her weapon for the return walk)
The mountains did inspire a guided 'walk' to the top of the cliffs. We had to negociate chain ladders to get us down vertical sections of the route. We stood at 3100 meters looking down on incredibly precipitous cliffs and the trickle of water as it starts it's km fall.
