Day 48 - Dandenong
On the agenda today we have a hair cut for Rhona, a trip to the Dandys and we're off to Jays mams house for tea!
We set off in the car to a place called The Dandenongs or "the Dandys" It's basically a mssive mountain with a couple roads going round it right to the top. We get to the very top of the mountain and there's a place called Sky High which is a lookout point and restaurant. The lookout point gives you views over all of Melbourne and you can evern see the city and West Melbourne from there. Next to the lookout point there's a seat called "The Giants chair" We decide it would be funny if Rhona got in it for a picture and even though her feet don't usualy touch the floor when she sat back her feet couldn't even reach the edge! (Look at the picture)
On the way down the mountain we stop in a small town called Olinda where it has some quaint little shops including a couple of sweet shops that sell sweets from around the world. We all turn into the kid in the sweet shop and pick our favourite treats (Rhona was over the moon when she saw a can of Irn Bru!) so we ended up with Bonbons, rhubarb Custards, Wham bars, Cherry drops and others.
Dinner time arrives and we stop in a little pub for grub, its a strange place with lots of "stuff" on the walls, a mishmash of everything from brass ornaments to beer matts. Food was nice though and we're all soon stuffed.
Next we take Rhona to get her hair trimmed at the local hairdresser and myself Louise and Jay head to the bar for a beer and discuss some strange Aussie things like why they call their linen part of a department store a "Manchester" (Makes no sense) Also when they say dates on TV like say August 17th the miss off the th so it's August 17 .. whats all that about!?!
After Rho is sorted we head on round to the Cheesecake shop as the girls have been mithering for it. As they can't decide which they want the get half of the Strawberry one and half of the thickest Jamaican chocolate cheesecake you've ever seen (it weighed a ton!)
We head round to Judy (Jasons mams) gaff for tea. Pat makes us a delicious Ravioli in a homemade tomato sauce (Our 1st home cooked meal in months!) and they're great hosts making sure we had full bellys and plenty of drink in us. We brought the cheesecake with us and against our better judegement all had a piece, we all thought we were gonna pop we ate so much.
We called it a night after the meal and headed home so Jay could watch the Scousers (Liverpool V Arsenal) He'd been avoiding the result since the match on Sunday as Liverpool TV had the full match on here on the Tuesdays, Liverpool drew with an own goal in the last minute hahaha gutted, after having his night ruined he decided it was time for bed and off he went, i went to bed happy in the fact they threw the game away :)
