Got up early and decided to take a walk around the strip to at least make a feeble attempt to work off some of the food consumed so far. 100m from the Hotel police were making an arrest across the road. This could be an interesting walk. Walking down the strip at 8am in the morning shows some interesting sights, people who have not been to bed yet and are spilling out of casinos or nightclubs, prostitutes, homeless, druggos and a mix of other interesting characters also probably the quitest you will ever see Las Vegas Boulevard. 4k walk done back to hotel for shower and brekky. Cops are still over the road but now there is 3 police cars instead of one and the felons are handcuffed and sitting on the ground. They must be bloody hot by now. Heading to Las Vegas North Premium Outlets today to finish our clothes shopping. Instead of hitting the Freeway we drove north on Las Vegas Boulevard. As you head out of the strip you start seeing the other side of Vegas, run down and full of down and outs. This end of the Bvd has all of the chapels (the famous Vegas Weddings) and very low cost motels (I think they come with complimentary muggings). It was quite sobering to see whole apartment complexes boarded up and in a state of disrepair, seems the GFC has not finished here (although you wouldn't notice it with the amount of tourists on the strip). It was very hot again wandering around the outlets. They have the sprinklers spraying fine mists to attempt to make it a bit cooler, it sort of works but the spray disappears very quickly and all seats in the shade are always occupied. You can get some really good bargains at these outlets but you have to look for them, some places can suck you in with a few cheapies then the rest are normal price. We got some great bargains from Skechers and Nike. Found my tripod attachment for Iphone and also scored a decent set of blue tooth headsets with microphone for my iphone. I finished my shopping and while waiting for Karen was sitting down listening to my new audiobook (most know I really enjoy my audiobooks). I must have looked strange to some people, I was either smiling or laughing to myself at bits of the book. I have previously read this book but listening to it and being narrated by the author himself makes it a better listen. The book in question is Don't Tell Mum I work on the RIGS she thinks I am a piano player in a *****house. If you have never read or listened to this book I Thoroughly recommend it. Very funny stories about his global trotting times on the rigs. Probably good to listen to a light hearted one after the audiobook I have just finished, Sandakan by Paul Ham. We all sort of think we understand what happened to these men, but listening to it being told instead of reading about it may have sunk in a bit more and i found it shocking. I find it amazing that after what they had been through the survivors just tried to tough it out and get on with life. Again I would recommend listening to this audiobook. OK I have digressed, shopping complete (5 1/2 hours later) we head back to the hotel, put the goods away and commence walking down to Wynn Casino for the Buffet. We rang first to see if we should book and was told they didn't take bookings but 7.30 - 8pm should be quiet. We got there at 8pm and bloody hell I would hate to see what busy is. Spotted a VIP line where for an extra $15 per head you get to bypass the main queue and get two free glasses of champagne. That was for us, cut our waiting time to about 5 minutes. I have been told about this before and will always use it now to beat the lines. Americans seem to be happy and accept long cues for stuff, b***** that. Loved the meal and had to roll out of there just over an hour later. I could not have even fitted in an after dinner mint. Strolling back to our hotel we heard some great music coming from the Carnival Bar. This bar was introduced to us by my cousin, good friend and Vegas guru Mick Lear. We had a few drinks in this bar before attending his 40th birthday bash in Pure Nightclub Caesars Palace a few years ago. That was a fantastic and memorable night. Back to the bar, there was a band belting out some great 80's and 90's rock, they were called Garage Boys. We called in a had a few beers listening to the music but all the shopping, walking and eating had worn me out so we headed back to the hotel (OK I know I have lined myself up for some flak and sledging here). Karen has one of those pace counter things called fitbit. It calculated we had walked 13k today with the shopping and wandering around the strip. If you add my walk this morning this adds it up to17k, no wonder I am tired. Enough until tomorrow
