We were exhausted this morning so just spent morning in room watching the flat scenery of holland...first we have seen farms and goats and cows! Feel like we are in known land again! We went through our 64th lock today...final one....these boats have to book the timing of the locks 1 year in advance....they pay 940 euros each trip and it gets deducted at the first lock....it is imperative for them to be on time for the first lock. Amsterdam is an unreal place.......

Hard day again today....got everyone's sympathy emails and I cried so much...but thank you for your thoughts. We had a tour of cologne Germany which is the biggest city we have been in....and they have lots of beggars and street people and pickpocket ears. We had the funniest guide ever...Markus Graf... He went on about the barbarians living on the shady side of the river which he would never do. He told us that old looking buildings were really recent...he reall...

Today I was sitting in lounge listening to our cruise director and I noticed a mail from Janet saying kurt was in hospital. I called Elaine and found out that he had a burst stomach, was operated on and his heart gave way on him! It was the saddest day I have had! I managed to get through the day, but just! I skipped lunch but did the tour of Rudesheim. We had a little train take us around the narrow streets...one street was 144 metres.....we went into music muse...

Fred and I had enough of vox boxes....we wanted to do our own tour....so.... We had the city plan and walked from 1 - 15....seeing the leaning tower of Wertheim, the old city gate, the old Jewish quarter, the smallest house which was built in a lane and very narrow at bottom and wider at top, town hall, church built in 1383 with a peep hole to see tombs of royal family....and then up hill to see the spectacular Werthium castle built in 1100 for the prince of the ...

We arrived in kitzingen in morning and I chose to cycle around town while Fred chose to sun himself on deck. I cycled across river and down town to as far as you could go...saw sign for Heidelberg for 27km and was tempted but didn't....did however venture int an Aldis to see what it was like in its native country....kept a brochure for Robbie! I bought a XL bag to fill and send some stuff home from Amsterdam! The streets are beautiful...all tree lined and all apa...
