Lynda and Fred Travels
Hard day again today....got everyone's sympathy emails and I cried so much...but thank you for your thoughts. We had a tour of cologne Germany which is the biggest city we have been in....and they have lots of beggars and street people and pickpocket ears. We had the funniest guide ever...Markus Graf... He went on about the barbarians living on the shady side of the river which he would never do. He told us that old looking buildings were really recent...he really mocked the Germans for being somber and unhumourous! He was just so funny...and he is a German born in cologne. Cologne is not the prettiest city but it has a spectacular cathedral. It is known for perfume...people think 4711 is the original cologne but it is not...it is furema which smelled much better.....someone copied him and was not able legally to call it furema so called it the address of the inventor of furema...4711.... We toured the city, had a local beer and walked back to the ship. Sat on sundeck for a while. It was captains dinner tonight so there was the introduction of all the crew and the speech by the captain. A lovely dinner and then dancing all night.
