I had a totally selfish me day today. The clocks went back an hour so I ended up being up even earlier (?!?). What's the betting when I'm back at work next week I won't want to be getting up so early? I just figure it's such a waste to be somewhere new and sleep through it.
Anyway I'm rambling. I wanted to do my own thing today and have a bit of me time. After breakfast I thought I'd get the use out of my Metro pass (and be lazy), and bus it down to near Union Square. I then queued up to go on the old cable cars. I somehow ended up surrounded by what I think was the Russian Mafia - 40 or so middle aged Russian women. Clearly they were trying to push the queue but I wasn't budging. I'm just one person c'mon. In the end my evils paid off and they backed off and I jumped on the cable car. It was so cool, I felt like I was in the movies - standing on the ledge leaning out as we went up and down the hills towards Fishermans Wharf. As soon as we got there I turned around and did the same thing coming back.
Then it was shopping time. Personally I don't like shopping in shops we have back home when I'm away in new places, but this was the only chance I was going to get to get some bargains - so I allowed myself 3/4 hours. People seem amazed by Westfield, saying its huge and that - not a patch on Merry Hill Westfield back home I must say. Food court is better tho - well it is America.
I started off in Sephora, spending an hour looking at make up and having a Bare Minerals make over, and spending a stupid amount of money. Then it was Forever 21. We have this back home now (Americans taking over the world haha), but they don't have a fat section - and as this is America - they do here. Again I spent a small fortune but I got loads as it's fairly cheap. Then it was Pandora (again we have them at home but cheaper here and more variety), treated myself to a pair of Vans and Converse and got a few Christmas presents (I'm organised).
I had a lovely lunch of blue cheese, beef burger and onion rings. I'm going to miss This food when I'm back on my healthy eating plan. Although I think it's partly the reason why I've not had much energy. Need my broccoli! And used the time whilst eating to Skype with Mum, Dad, Nan, Em and Ollie. I love being away but I also love knowing that it's not long until I can see them again.
I'd had enough of shopping by this point and wanted to go down to see the gorgeous bay for the last time, so I hopped on the F line to Fishermans Wharf and then walked back along the front to the bottom of Market Street, before hopping on the F line back to the hotel. I grabbed a Starbucks and am now sat on my bed procrastinating. Where on earth am I going to put all this s*** I've bought?!?
Tomorrow we leave this gorgeous city and head back towards LA, stopping tomorrow night in Carpenteria. Didn't get to do everything I wanted to here but hopefully will come back one day. Here and San Diego are my favourites so far. Clearly anywhere by the ocean I was going to love.
