We left the lovely Bass Lake this morning and headed west for the city I'd been dying to get to - San Francisco. Everybody that has been here had told me how amazing it was, and to be honest when I first got here I didn't get it. But now I kinda do.
We went down to Fisherman's Wharf and I had fish and chips - reminded me of home. It was also raining - again just like home. The aura of the bay felt really homely. Reminded me of Portsmouth in a bizarre way.
We got stuck in crazy traffic as the San Francisco Giants were doing a victory parade through the city and loads of roads had been closed. But we got to our hotel ok and then had just an hour to get ready into our fancy dress costumes for Halloween. I had bought some stuff with me but then found a Cleopatra outfit in Walmart last week and couldn't resist it. I clearly didn't think it through as the skirt was see through so I had to wear leggings underneath - skirt was white, leggings black. You figure.
We left the hotel around 4.30 and went down to the pier. I heard my homing call (sea lions). There were lots of them, totally cute! We boarded a catermeran. I was 'well chuffed', I love boats and being on the water. We set sail and cruised around the bay. It was a bit nippy but I couldn't drag myself off the deck, the views were amazing. We passed Alcatraz Island and then went under the Golden Gate Bridge just as the sun was setting. We even saw Dolphins - quite small ones though.
Once we docked back at the pier, (my buddies the seals were still there), we went for dinner. We went to Bubba Shrimp. Only just before on the boat I'd said to someone I wonder if it was anything to do with the Forrest Gump movie and they laughed at me - but it was!!! Stupid is as stupid does. Anyway, it was a bit like our TGIs back home. I just had a plate of chicken wings! Yum! I was in heaven - chicken and blue cheese heaven. I even dropped some sauce down my outfit oops.
After that we walked what seemed like across America and up mountains. This place is bloody hilly. We had entry into this club thing but it turned out more like a bar back home. Was cool but not really my thing. Lots of us are heading to Alcatraz early tomorrow so we left early.
All from me xx
