Friday started with Sidney deciding to lie down on the job, he fell over for no reason and boy is he heavy. Eventually I got him back on his wheels only to find out that he had broken his wing mirror - serves him right he should have stayed upright!! My lovely landlord got 2 of his lads to mend it while I was having breakfast.
As I was leaving work for lunch Vannak told me that Sidney's back type was going flat - was he trying to tell me something when he fell over?? Well that meant I had to explain what I wanted to the little boy at the Moto repair hut in fluent sign language. 500 reils (23 cents) later both tyres were firm and ready to carry me home for lunch.
As I said on Facebook I have decided to walk once a day so that I get some exercise I am so pleased I did as just after I left work I heard someone call my name and there were 4 of the women that work at the Education Office. We shared a great meal of not sure what!! Started with us washing our hands - no cutlery. We were then brought a large bowl of vegetables, mostly large leaves (cabbage was the only one I recognized) and a plate that contained what I can only describe as rice crepes with minced meat and a mixture of small veg (only recognized bean sprouts). We then took a large leaf, put a mixture of everything else onto it, wrapped it into a small parcel and then dunked it into a sauce. Delicious and it saved me from cooking. However the best thing was that they asked me to join them, their English was about 20 words better than my Khmer but we understood each other enough to have a good time.
This put me in such a brave mood that I did it. I got a towel, a comb all my courage and dyed my hair. Now this doesn't sound too hard but you haven't heard the horror stories of what dye bought here does!! Well I am no longer blonde - although that's what it said on the tin. I am a light brown however I am not orange, purple or bald so all in all a success.
