Nervous Turkey!
With one day left in Queenstown the only must do activity left was to complete the 3 hour Walk to the Queenstown hill basket. This infamous uphill trek of ice and snow is known for providing the best view of Queenstown and its surroundings from the peak. Making it with only one fall we took in the natural beauty of NZ. It is difficult to describe NZ without making the country sound repetitive but the endless scenes of mountains, trees and lakes created by huge fault lines in the earth never gets boring.
A farewell Fergburger seemed like a fitting way to see off our time in Queenstown and there was one thing on the menu that had been on Matt's mind all week...... The Big Al. This was a Matt Vs Food war. Two and a half pounds of food consisting of beef burger, bacon, egg, salad, avocado, onion rings, relish and covered in hot sauce. It was a messy battle which took many a napkins life but in the end Matt had to stand up to finish it off while trying to keep the rest of it down. It still didn't stop us from one of our favourite pass times when walking back to then hostel.....Singing karaoke in the gourmet cookie bar to receive a freebie. This time was Britney - Hit me baby one more time. We think the staff were really getting fed up of 20 adults everyday taking advantage of the promotion. Char stood her ground tonight refused the amounts of food, she was in need of veg back at the hostel.
To Matt's delight a guitar player who has moved to Queenstown to earn a living has moved into our room so they spent the night playing together and Matt was even allowed to use his guitar when he went out. Rusty is an understatement.
Following the disastrous vibe at Locos the night before we vowed never to step foot in there again but as usual the youth wanted to go. This made for another failed night out.
