Nervous Turkey!
Wanaka to Queenstown
The first stop today was Puzzle World but not wanting to pay to complete the mazes, we sat with the majority of bus in the cafe trying to figure out the puzzles and games which were there to amuse us.
WinterFest was in Queenstown this week, so what a perfect time for us to visit. With skiing on the agenda we needed gloves and socks so we hit the shops. But being on a tight budget due to our adventurous activities coming up, we searched the shops for some bargains. As we were doing so it started snowing and the realisation that we have no warm clothing dawned on us. We managed to hit the Opshop (opportunity shop) or thrift shop or charity shop, whatever people call them, and get hats and gloves for cheap cheap. However five layers of clothing are needed the majority of the time. Just to put things into perspective, that is all our warm clothes, all of the time.
It's "tradition" on the first night in Queenstown to do a pub crawl lead by Arias. Probably so he could embark on his next mission of the group.
The group of friends we have made are almost becoming like family and we genuinely could not have met a more friendly, funny, interesting and varied group of people to make the kiwi experience better. A special mention must be made to Hester and Emma who some how manage to make us laugh constantly with there unique and awkward humour. With winter festival in full swing surely the atmosphere was going to be amazing. NOT. We ended up being the only people in the bars (the full bus) and once we moved on the bar was empty. The entertainment for the night came from some dreary metal band playing horrible Stevie Wonder covers, Matt wasn't impressed one bit at the sacrilege. All of a sudden the night became very strange but entertaining when Em and Hes started a dinosaur themed dance in honour of the new Jurassic Park release. The night also involved a triple stack piggy back and a b**** fight between two bus members as tensions within the group reach boiling point. Quality.
