Wednesday, we set off at 6:00 for our short drive to Pushkar, when we arrived we had the difficulty of steering our bikes through the tiny alleyways between houses where everyone would walk and park their bikes and of course there was also cows and dogs everywhere! We managed to find some nice accomodation a short walk out of the city with a swimming pool so great for a relax! As soon as we put our bags in the room we went for a swim, we then ate some lunch, took showers, washed some clothes then headed back into the town for a browse. We visited Pushkar Lake a sacred lake of the Hindus, surrounded by 52 bathing Ghats, a series of steps leading to the lake, where pilgrims gather to take a sacred bath, which is believed to cleanse sins and cure skin diseases. Over 500 Hindu Temples are situated around the lake precincts. We unfortunately got lured in by a tourist scam, believing we were just joining in a prayer however they were actually warming us up for a hefty donation, the boys all gave a couple of pounds but Laura put her foot down and would absolutely not give any donation... What a stinge. We walked all the way around the lake which was really peaceful, we were followed by a little boy who showed us magic tricks then eventually asked us to buy him some food, however when we went to the shop he wanted the expensive stuff so we said no and felt disappointed as he was a lovely kid and we didn't expect him to ask us for anything as he seemed more educated than other kids who have begged. We looked around the shops then went back to our accomodation and sat around the pool eating snacks and playing cards until it was time to pack and for bed.
