Monday, we set off at 6:00 for our drive to Jaipur, the roads were a lot quieter compared to the madness we arrived in yesterday however still plenty of cows and dogs about, it appears that lots of people just sleep out on the sides of the roads on wooden carts, as we got out of the city and into more rural suburbs it also appeared that people just poo in bushes on the side of the road. The road today was a lot different to yesterday's, no motorway type road with services but more of a country road like back home but a lot straighter. We managed to find somewhere to stop for breakfast which was good then we arrived in Jaipur around lunch time, took showers, ate and chilled. We played monopoly which went of forever but eventually Matt won, Laura and Ben ate Pizza Hut as still nursing the stomachs whilst Matt and Chris continued with curryMonday, we set off at 6:00 for our drive to Jaipur, the roads were a lot quieter compared to the madness we arrived in yesterday however still plenty of cows and dogs about, it appears that lots of people just sleep out on the sides of the roads on wooden carts, as we got out of the city and into more rural suburbs it also appeared that people just poo in bushes on the side of the road. Tuesday, we ate breakfast then met our Rickshaw driver for the day, sunny. Sunny drove us to the Monkey Temple, a Hindu temple at the top of a hill which actually had more pigs than monkeys and we even saw a monkey riding a pig!! The lovely old priest was at the temple and explained the statues and God's to us and put a dot on our heads. We drove to Amber Fort, built in 1592 out of a lot of marble, it was very beautiful and overlooked the Maotha Lake and had a cool system where they would pull up water in pots from the lake to the fort. There was also a room full of tiny mirror mosaic from floor to ceiling, really amazing although we are not completely sure of its purpose. After, we drove to Water Palace, a palace that has ended up in the middle of a lake due to flooding, the first three floors are entirely under water with only one floor remaining above water level. Sunny took us to a nice place for lunch then to a materials factory which turned out, we think, to be a bit of a tourist trap but Matt and Chris each got a shirt made. We drove around the Pink City and back to the hostel to chill in the cool and pack our bags for a few hours. At 18:00, Ben, Chris and Matt went to see a light show whilst Laura rested in the hostel as not feeling too well, they returned at 23:00 and didn't see the light show at all but found a very good bar!!.
