One thing I've really wanted to do whilst I've been in Asia is a sea fishing day trip. A few people from the hotel were up for it as well and set a date! We took some food and a crate of beers which we had to transport on the bikes along with us.. A well built Frenchman Phil was riding the bike whilst I was facing backwards with the cooler box balanced between my legs.. Weird experience hiding on a bike not being able to see where your going.. When we arrived it turned out it was a trawler boat so I knew we had a few long hours sitting just watching the back of the boat. Adam the guy looking after the hotel was pretty hungover and didn't agree with how choppy it was.. Followed closely by a sea sick Jordan.. We managed to catch a smallish fish.. Only by trawling over a pre planted line.. But it still counts and we still put it on the BBQ! For our lunch break we had scheduled to stop along a stretch of rock pools and beaches.. We dropped anchor about 20m away from where we wanted to stop so the boat could spin round on the anchor 180 degrees and be pointing in the right direction.. We should've dropped it 22m away because the back of the boat hat the rocks and broke one of the engines.. Great.! So we had to drive to the nearest dock and repair the boat.!
After lunch we were supposed to head out to the main fishing grounds off the north of the island.. However after 10 minutes we noticed the whole horizon was just completely black. The further we drove the worse it got. It started raining.. And the waves! The waves were stupidly big so we couldn't head there and ended up trawling back along the coast line. It was a good job everyone managed to get over their sea sickness because these waves were rocking the boat a good 30 degrees and slamming down on them as well.! Ah well was good fun!
