Have to say despite the initial staring, the Philippine people are probably the nicest I've met so far. They seem pretty genuinely happy to see you and talk to you, and love it when you try and talk to them in their own language! I think it's because it's not the touristy, and the towns are so remote they haven't been effected by tourism and money yet.
So this is why we travelled 3 hours by bus and got up at 5.30, to swim with the whale sharks.. They were such incredible creatures. Their massive mouths the size of a car windshields at the surface and their tails almost touching the sea floor 15m bellow. What amazed me was the size of the animals gills.. Rows and rows on each side.. Each gill over a metre in length! Definitely an experience I won't forget.!
The bus journey from Oslob to Batto has to be by far THE bumpiest most spine crunching experience of my life. Me and my bag took off when I tried to pay the ticket guy. The driver was bombing it around the coastal road and ploughing through the bumps and pot holes along the way. Funny thing was it was a non AC bus so all the windows and doors were wide open.. Allowing the natural AC to flow through, I'm surprised no one fell out.. I optimistically got my book out.. But after nearly falling out my chair, thought I'd better use my hands to hang on for dear life instead!
