Today we woke up to a completely different town, it was sunny with blue skies and hardly any cloud. Then we went outside and the wind was as cold as ever, yep we were still in Queenstown. First item of the day was to drop the rental car off at the airport and then on a bus back to town. Once in town we looked around the shops, I'm trying to be organised and buy my Christmas presents for my NZ peeps. Then we headed to the lake front where we took a walk around the point and through the Queenstown Gardens. We had worked up quite an appetite so it was Fish, chips and mussels for lunch, man I love my seafood! We had exercised and we had been feed so now it was time for a relaxing cruise on Lake Wakatipu on a 100 year old steam ship, the Earnslaw. The Earnslaw definitely took you back in time with varnished wood everything, brass handles, and a pianist in the first class cabin. This boat has been looked after so well that it makes it easy to imagine what life was like on the boat 100 years ago.
The Earnslaw took us to Walter Point where we saw red deer, alpacas, a strange cow type animal, dogs and of course sheep. I even got to feed some sheep which was pretty awesome for a city girl! This was followed by tea and scones on the patio overlooking the lake, so beautiful and so relaxing. Then it was back on the Earnslaw to take us to Queenstown.
Tomorrow is our last full day in Queenstown so we've decided to take off on a bus to Milford Sounds a few hours up the road. Looking forward to the trip and a repeat of today's weather to go with it!
