The past seven days have been one word...........RELAXING!!!!! I have had just enough time to do everything I wanted. I've been bike riding with Dad by the mighty Waikato river, watched Sarah being tough while getting her tattoo, 8km walk with the family, tried out different coffee shops, visited Mount Maunganui and caught up with old friends.
The highlight of this past week has to be my holiday within a holiday, a three day break at the beach. It started on Monday when I caught the bus over to Mount Maunganui. Only a two hour ride, so just up the road by Australian standards. At $20 it was a lot cheaper than driving. Petrol here has been around $2.09 per litre!! Pop met me in Tauranga, first stop was to pick up some fish for dinner. I would love to say that we caught it ourselves, but well that would be a lie! The fish in NZ is delicious, I would put money on it and say the worst tasting fish in NZ would still be better than the best tasting fish in Oz. And that's not being biased, that's being honest :)
On Tuesday I hitched a ride with Janey, from high school days, and we went to Rotorua. Jane teaches Year 7 students. I have to admit, it felt very weird being back at a school, even if it was only for half and hour. From there Kereana Banana (an old work mate) picked me up and we hung out for the day. That meant some more shopping and more coffees. I got to meet Kere's daughter for the first time, and at only 7 months she is the cutest thing with huge brown eyes, trying to take everything in. Kere's son is a cutie too, with his cap he calls his "Chur Bro", because everytime he has it on what does he say? Chur Bro!!
Wednesday was good too. Started the morning with a run, then shopping with my Nan, and then a walk around the mountain (Mount Maunganui) with my Pop. I had the best time at my grandparents place, just hanging out drinking tea during the day and red wine at night. It's great listening to all their stories. I hope when I get to their age my stories are at least half as interesting as theirs.
Thursday I headed back to Hamilton, where I need to get a few more things organised for our road trip which officially starts next Saturday, CAN'T WAIT!!
