When all our devices started vibrating and ringing because messages, updates and emails arrived, we figured internet was working again. The blogs were suspended for a few days because of that, but updates will follow soon!
Today we went to Reiko to meet a few of her English language students and two of their mothers. Each student (2 girls and a boy) made a little presentation for us about Japan. It was quite interesting! The first was about the Tokyo Sky Tree, the second about Asakusa and the last about Japanese mascots: Yuruchara. We were very impressed, because they talked English very well. After the presentation the kids had a quiz about Holland. It was very funny to see what the children thought about Holland. They had to point at what they thought was Holland on a map, pick the correct Dutch flag and answer some questions like if we had a royal family. The quiz was well prepared by Reiko, we had a lot of fun! After the quiz one of the mothers was so kind to fix the buttons on the coat of Michelle, while waiting for the pizza that was ordered. In the meantime the children, Dennis, Yuki (Reiko's husband) and the dogs went for a small walk. When the coat was fixed and everyone was back, the pizza arrived. It was clear the children were looking forward to this moment all day. The (square) pizza was very nice and everyone enjoyed it a lot. Afterwards the kids watced a very short part of the Sound of Music before they had to go home.
After that we all went to a park near Tokyo harbor to let the dogs out. There was this part that was specially reserved for dogs and were they could run freely without a leash. It was fun to watch all the dogs play. The view was nice too and when we explored the park a little bit further we even cought a glimpse of the Tokyo Sky Tree. It was also nice to smell the sea. Afterwards we wanted to go to Nitori to get some stuff we still needed and asked Reiko and Yuki if they could drop us there but instead they went with us. It was nice. We bought some extra cups and blankets for our guests who will be here in a couple of weeks. Afterwards we wanted to treat them for dinner and eventually we all went to Lazona to have very nice (tonkotsu) ramen. After the dinner we went to get ice-cream before we left and were dropped off at our appartment.
