Getting up early went fairly well, since Dennis was half an hour too early at Canon HQ for his meeting with HR. He got an introduction at Canon, but also help with setting up a bank account and received a health insurance card. The presentation of the Health and Safety department was very typically Japanese and Dennis never expected that this would take almost an hour, but had a nice chat with her. It sure indicates how much attention Canon pays to this. Next stop was Kosugi, Dennis' actual working site, where the Kosugi HR gave him a tour of the site and another hour long presentation. The guy from HR was not very fluent in English and very nervous, but we were able to understand eachother very well. Soon after, he got to his desk, but unfortunately there was not much that he could set up further, since Dennis did not have a Canon account yet to log in with, so he read up with some documentation. Better luck tomorrow.

At home the NTT Docomo guy came to set up our internet connection, but it looks like that didn't go as expected, since we now have an optic fibre channel coming in in one of the bedrooms instead of at the entrance. Strange, but we'll see how it works out and if we are going to have it adjusted.

We ate soba (Dennis) and udon (Michelle) tonight, but forgot to take our umbrellas at our way out. After some local heavy rainfall an hour later, we went back to get them again (they were still there of course, we are in Japan after all), but we were already soaked by then...

Christmas has started here some time ago and many shops have been decorated, some more than others. Along all the shopping streets you can hear Christmas carols as well. Only 6 more weeks to go before they change the tunes.
