You must know the drill by now. Dennis is at work and learning another new Japanese word from his Japanese colleagues. Michelle explores the area in search for this special piece of furniture. The road near the house (Meguro Dori) looked like the place to begin the hunt and to browse the many shops, since that road is well known for its furniture shops. There were indeed a lot of totally different furniture shops, new and second hand. Every shop had some other surprise, very enjoying. There were many other stores as well, like food, but the only fun thing to mention was the dental clinic with a fair collection of... BARBIES. It must be something to soothe the kids or something. Unfortunately nothing for the apartment was found or was just too expensive... Michelle did find a great Bakery which sold really nice raisin bread that she had as dinner with Dennis when he arrived home.

After dinner we planned to go to "Minna no Illumi". It is a stretch of the Meguro river near Gotanda Station were special Christmas illuminations were placed. With an eye on saving energy and environment the 156,000 LED lights are all powered by locally generated electricity, using biodiesel generated from waste oil from local homes and restaurants. lt was only around 3 kilometers away, about a 30 minute walk, so they decided to take a stretch. It was a great opportunity to see some more of the environment. Many shops were closed already so there was not much to see except a Yakult shop with matching scoot-mobiles, it was a nice walk. When they arrived the view was amazing. The lights were beautiful and the pink lights (who were placed in cherry trees) did remind of Sakura in bloom! When we finished looking and taking some pictures (and movie) we went to a big Book Off (store with 2nd hand CD/DVD/Blu-ray/games) nearby and then to home again. This time by train. :)
