Today we were taken around the large park to be introduced to all of the elephants, and learn all about them. We observed their behaviour, watched them interact with each other, and run away from the baby elephant chasing us! We took lots of photographs and asked questions about the elephants.
We then had the privilege of taking a trip to the local school and interacting with the children. Every Thursday they have the opportunity to practise their work skills and improve their English. Some were making and selling cookies (which were delicious!), some were giving talks on their culture and others were playing sports with the volunteers. Some girls made us bracelets with beads, and other taught us some traditional Thai dancing. They where so cute! We also got some foot massages, which initially seemed strange, but the girls explained that Thai massage was a part of their curriculum and they muT practise regularly. One little girl said it was what she wanted to when she was older. They all giggled when Jen's legs were hairy, and then one accidentally exploded the talcum powder into her face!
After lunch, we had to plant bamboo....in the rain! I dug my first ever hole with a shovel and everything! Yay me!
