Finally, a lie in. Ish. As 10am crept up, I snuck out of bed and the room over to the hotels breakfast buffet. Today we had to leave the elephant park. We were told last night that we had no jobs this morning, so Will and I took the liberty of a lovely lie in. Only to be woken up by the guys banging on our door claiming that we had poo duty this morning. We ignored this. Today was rainy and miserable, so we were glad to be under shelter and preparing the food for the elephants. We were a well oiled machine, passing melons across to one another to shelves, and then to be washed and cut up. Scrubbing pumpkin after pumpkin is strangely therapeutic! Today we were taken around the large park to be introduced to all of the elephants, and learn all about them. We observed their behaviour, watched them interact with each other, and run away from the baby elephant chasing us! We took lots of photographs and asked questions about the elephants. Another early and hungover start, we were taken for a walk around the large park to observe and get to know the elephants. We watched them interact with each other, the babies playing, and the mahoots (elephant carers) looking after them. We were told all of tier names and discussed their personalities.
