Wednesday 22nd July Today was going to be a more relaxing day so we were going down to Kensington Palace as Jannie really wanted to see inside and it wasn't open on Sunday when we walked past. Stopped off for Another Awful Coffee, AAC at the cafe in the palace. We used our London Pass' so got in free. It was quite dark inside. Lots of nice painting in huge frames, glass cabinets filled with dresses from down the ages that the royals wore, lots of history about the royals that had lived there and lots of people.

After we got out of there we decided to go down to Grenwich so got the tube to Embankment and then had to walk along to Westminster to catch the free boat (just showed our London pass) and off down the river with only two stops along the way. Great commentary along the way by one of the crew on board.

Got off at Grenwich and went to sort out the Brewery that we stopped at last time we were down this way for lunch. Nice prawns and beer. Then we went for a walk to see the Painted Gallery which we were unable to see last time here as there was a function on. This was stunning and still a work in progress as they restore parts of the painted walls and ceilings.

Then it was the trek up the hill to the observatory. Hundreds of people all off work and dawdling up the hill and stopping to take photos and generally getting in the road. Paid with our London Card - cheap day so far! Queued up to straddle the 0 latitude line. Viewed all the clock rooms, apartment for the staff in the old days and a couple of telescope rooms.

It had got very cloudy and a bit windy for our walk down the hill. It's going to rain heard and you forgot our raincoats!! Stopped off at the Cutty Sark and what a great restoration they have done with this. We went to the museum fill in a bit of time as we were waiting for the boat to arrive. Anyway we made it back to the boat without a drop of rain and caught the boat back to the city.

We were a bit weary but caught the tube back home and as it was 6pm decided just to have dinner as we wandered home instead of going out again. Big day.
