Monday 17th August Ambleside late am
We got on the double decker bus and in about half an hour we were getting off in Ambleside after going via Lakes Thirlmere, Grasmere and Rydal. We thought that the village of Grasmere was worth a stop on the way home, just for a look.
We started to wander the streets of Ambleside and every 2nd shop is selling gear for tramping, climbing and boating. There are lots of eateries of various sorts so a pub for lunch was looking good. In the meantime Jannie spied a hairdressers and she said I needed a haircut and I'll shout so in we went and I got my hair cut. Oh and then Jan got talking and next thing you know she is in the chair getting a trim too. I think that this was the plan all along!
After the haircuts and seeing that it was by now very hot, lunch and beer was the next thing on the list. After the lunch we wandered the other part of the township and then decided to walk the 1 mile down to Lake Windermere where Jannie bought tickets and the next thing you know is we were on the large launch bound for Bowater at the far end of the lake.
It was a pleasant enough trip with lots to see along the way and the commentary was good too.
