Sunday 16th August - Whitby to Keswick
It was a beautiful day in Whitby when we left and the 2.5 hour drive was pretty uneventful until we got within about 12 miles of Keswick. Then we got into a queue of cars that were held up at a round a bout that had traffic lights controlling the flow or not of vehicles. The problem was that most of the traffic coming from our right wanted to take the exit directly on our left and as such blocked our two lanes so that when our light went green no one much could get through the intersection. It took about half an hour for us to go about 2 miles. But once through we hit Keswick pretty soon and got to our B&B which is a 5 minute walk from the town.
We checked in and unpacked and then walked into town for a sandwich after which we walked down to the lake and booked a boat trip. The boat went around the lake and stopped at 8-10 jetties picking up walkers that had been for various walks that go around the lake. There were about 80 people, 2 prams and 10 dogs on board when we finally got back to Keswick. The trip took about an hour and although lovely there was not a lot to photograph.
