Sunday 23rd August pm
We had our beers and went back down the hill to the Grassmarket, not a blade of grass in sight but a big square that had markets and stalls everywhere. There were not so many people around today as there were yesterday so it didn't feel so claustrophobic.
There was a stall maned by a young Spanish couple and they had the two biggest paella pans I have seen and they were selling the lovely looking food like hot cakes. These pans would have been 1.5metres wide and about 100mm deep full of chicken and rice and all sorts of vegs. I would have loved some but the portions were too big and would have feed us both with left overs to spare.
We caught the bus up to the Royal Mile and Jannie bought a tartan rug for her knees back home and it's lovely. We again caught the bus as walking in the hot sun was unpleasant and went right to the end of the tour this time and then to walk up George Street to see if we could see the George Hotel and although we walked the length of George Street failed to find it. Jill and Ron are on a bus tour and are meant to check into that particular hotel tonight and we thought that we could catch up.
No luck so we caught the No 37 bus back to our car and drove home passed the sea front. The tide was out and there were waves on the water and hundreds of cars parked all the way along the road. I guess all of the people were down on the beach.
