A slow start again today, Elsie building confidence climbing in the indoor playground. Then we set off into Wakkanai town towards the ferry to Rishiri. Stopped at McDonalds for the novelty of it (tried a very gingery Yakki burger you would probably like, Lynette). Elsie was asleep in the buggy already so we left her there with walkie talkies connected in case she woke. Not sure if that counts as leaving your child alone in the car.
Then went to the supermarket to stock up and I realised while there that we may need to check our cash supplies. Alas we were running low (especially for heading off to the islands). Tried the two ATMs nearby, no luck. Used Around Me to find another one... closed. Tried the next one, cards still wouldn't work. Beginning to give up hope (and panicking that we would miss the ferry) we finally found one that worked and got cash. Yay! Once on the ferry we found a spot amoungst the crowds and made some new friends with Elsie delighting people (mostly). After almost two hours we disembarked and headed for camp but along the way we came across a shrine moving procession which was funny and quite captivating.
Finally set up camp in our spot in the hills and enjoyed listening to the bird life while Shane zoomed off to the Seicomart to grab some tea.
