One of those days. All packed up and discovered Shane had a puncture so started fixing that (easy enough). In the meantime I pumped up my tyres. Five minutes later, boom... I thought we were being shot at but it was just my tyre exploding. Fatal error. We didn't bring a spare for that bike and no puncture repair was going to save the day. Spent all day traipsing around town but no-one stocks the 28/29 inch tubes. Apparently not so common here. Everyone trying to help. Finally the camp manager managed to get us one from Wakkanai to be delivered tomorrow (ten times what we'd pay in NZ). So we set up tent again. Then another cycle tourist showed up and he was carrying four spares the exact size we need. What are the odds and of course he was more than happy to give us one. But we're definitely staying to wait for our spares now!
So we finally finished sorting the bikes and camp out by about 3pm and went off up a small hill for a walk. Elsie had been great most of the morning then started turning a bit difficult but we went along to the onsen as she usually loves it. Alas, she was also difficult and ran out of the changing area naked down the hallway. Not sure that anyone here has seen such a thing. She also worked out how to use the ice cream vending machine with coins from her pocket.
Getting her off to bed was then challenging, she escaped from the tent and ran off through the campsite after screaming the house down. Have dosed her with Phenergan to get her to sleep and now we are trying to tell the difference between four different Sapporo Beers.
I'm just glad when some days are over.
