It was a bit drizzly this morning so we took our time packing up to dry the tent out a bit. Cycled through some farm roads to avoid the main road then undulated along the main road to Shosanbetsu. A yummy lunch at a little noodle shop that didn't look like much but great food nonetheless. Shane had scallop noodle soup but Elsie ate all his scallops! There were more in our miso at dinner tonight so they were both happy. Must be a local food I guess.
Stopped at a great playground and water fountain just past Shosanbetsu and contemplated staying but had only done 20km or so, so we continued on to Embetsu. Had to decide between the beach camp and the forest park camp (up a hill!), both of which I think are actually closed. The beach looked lovely but when we looked at the forest one we found a great playground and Elsie was decided.
It did mean having to cycle back up the hill after going into town for the supermarket and some dinner. I had steak and man it was good... perfectly cooked, tender and tasty. And Shane was happy with his mixed seafood dish.
Elsie was most disappointed that there is no onsen in this town (me too to be honest... it was a warm day so feeling a bit smelly!). All a bit tired and quite a few mozzies around so turning in early tonight. About 45km for today.
