Kate's Chronicles
Am on my last week and cannot express how happy I am to finally be on the way out of here. It has been the worst year of my life in so many ways. I cannot write much at the moment as my contract forbids me to be open and honest in expressing my thoughts but rest assured my final blog for this country will be just that.....open and honest, warts and all
The last few weeks had been one farewell after another as people pack up to leave.....and of course this has meant one party or dinner to celebrate. The rest of the teachers have gone on holidays so there are only a few of us left.....basically those seeing out their contracts and a few new starters who have no idea what they are in for!!!
I am still teaching.......finally getting to do a few hours of actually teaching Nursing which is rather ironic given that is what I came to do in the first place!!! So my year of teaching Nursing English has been reduced to 12 actual hours....suppose at least I can't say I didn't do any.
Other than teaching and saying farewell it has been the usual mundane existence. Going to the pool and making the most of the hot weather before returning to the cold of Australia. One thing I will miss is the weather. Even though it is rainy season we are getting glorious, sunny days interspersed with showers of rain and usually storms at night.
Our students are currently undertaking their compulsory military training. We were watching them on Friday as the poor soldiers were trying to get them to line up in a straight line....which seemed to be an impossible goal. Heavens only know how they will do with marching. I am told that they also do activities involving the use of wooden guns......as one teacher put it "would you trust our students with real guns?" Somehow I do not think they would be any great asset if required in times of war.
Anyway I will say bye for now.......and look forward to my final warts and all blog from this country
