We really enjoyed Wanaka, famous for its beautiful turquoise lake. The whole town seems to centralise its activities around it - from activities such as jet boating to skydiving. Te Anau is a lovely little town nestled on a huge lake gouged out by a massive glacier, 53km long and 417m deep. Our main reason for visiting here was that it is the main access point to get to Milford Sound. The Catlins runs along the South West Coast of the South Island of NZ between Balclutha and Invercargill. Along this stretch are pristine forest s and more wildlife filled bays. Dunedin, Celtic for Edinburgh is NZ's South Islands second city after Christchurch. The city itself is pretty much like any other University City, lots of libraries, book shops and coffee shops.
