Italian adventure! We flew into our pick up point- Rome- on the Thursday evening, arrived at our accommodation and to our pleasant surprise were upgraded to a cabin with ensuite and airconditioning, opposed to a permanent tent, lovely!
Friday morning we woke early and jumped on the bus to start our Italian adventure. Our first stop of the day was Pompeii. We had a tour around the ruins of Pompeii- fascinating! Ate lunch and back on the bus! We arrived at our accommodation in sorrento at about 5.30pm that day. Sorrento is beautiful!
We walked around the town, had plenty of free time and a limoncello tasting. We had dinner together at Il Leone Rosso- cute little restaurant and not bad Italian food. We headed onto a cocktail bar- minus the cocktails for my recovering self and once again had a fairly early night.
Saturday we ventured to the isle of Capri. Absolutely stunning! We took a ferry there and admired the views. Once we arrived a group of us got an open air taxi to anacapri, and took the chairlift up to the highest point for a beautiful view of the island. We explored, wandered a fair bit and spent the afternoon at the beach. On our way back to sorrento we stopped at the blue grotto- a little cave that you can only go in at certain tidal times on tiny boats, that glows blue inside, it's crazy! That evening was free time. A couple of girls we met ask locals for good restaurants with cheap, local food wherever they go, genius. We followed their lead and ended up at a cute little restaurant that served amazing pastas- good tip from the girls :)
Sunday it was time to head back to Rome! We stopped along the way, firstly in Amalfi for a few hours. And next in Rivello where we had amazing paninis for lunch.
Next stop, Rome!
