Hi from Bruges! We had a short bus trip from Paris to Bruges, About 4 hours and we arrived into Bruges at about 12pm Saturday. We left our baggage in storage and went for a wander. Bruges/Belgium is famous for their chocolate, French fries with mayonnaise, their many beers, waffles, and Flemish dishes.
Bruges is lovely, small and pretty and a really laid back quiet town. We decided to give a couple of dishes a go. We tried french fries, so delicious with real mayonnaise, and slimming! After wandering we decided we owed it to our stomachs to try waffles. Yum! I had waffles with banana, ice cream and chocolate topping, also slimming! Back to our hostel room where we met Aleesha, a fellow Australian busabouter! We wandered into town with her to a pub with over 400 beers! I tried raspberry and a banana one, yum. Back to the hostel bar for happy hour, €1 beers! We had a few drinks with aleesha and guys we met in Paris and stayed there most of the night before having a fairly early night.
Up and nice early for our bike tour on Sunday! I've decided I love bikes, best way to see places. We had a 3 hour ride, and a beer in a beer garden. We wandered the streets, bought some amazing belgium chocolates, and sat for lunch. Tomato soup for entree, flemish beef stew for main, scoop of icecream for dessert. More wandering before heading home to do some washing- exciting stuff hey. Washing complete & to the hostel bar again! We signed up for the pub crawl, got prettied up & headed for that around 9pm. We visited a few different bars, met lots of people, drank more beer, and got home around 4am. You can imagine checking out at 10am this morning wasn't too much fun with limited sleep! I'm now on the bus to Amsterdam, we have 3 nights here before moving on again :)
