The christmas festivities are well under way here and cheesy christmas jumpers abound! We went to the opening of the Bury St Edmunds Christmas "Fayre" Thursday night. The square and the cobble-stoned mall were all lit up with fairy lights for the lantern parade and there were real full size pine christmas trees decorated in the centre. We had carols in the 11th Century Bury Cathedral which was beautiful. A bit home sick though for the balmy carols by candle-light in the park under the gum trees!! We braved the bitter cold to watch a wonderful fireworks display to open the christmas festival.
We had an early christmas lunch in a local village with friends (minus poor Adam who was studying) and had lovely afternoon making christmas decorations from our recyling pile. Quite proud of our coat-hanger and plastic bag wreath with holly from the cornflakes box!!
It has been -2 or -3 degrees some mornings making everything caked in a layer of white frost. Zac and Zoe so thrilled that they ran around on the lawn (only in their socks!!!) to make footprints! Having trouble getting used to it getting dark about 3:30pm and pitch black by 4:30! At least we get to see sunrises each day as dawn is about 7am.
Looking forward to thawing out in Tanzania in 10 days time and very excited to see the progress on the school for which all the donations are helping make possible. Thanks everyone!
