After a very happy start to school, the wheels fell off today. The staff think Zac should move up a level to year 2. Whilst this should be considered a good thing, poor Zac devasted at the idea of changing classes and his beloved teacher after just starting to settle and make friends. Poor little thing cried and cried. Even a new "bravery dog" to take to school only consoled him temporarily. He's so upset, saying he doesnt want to go to school anymore. Oh dear! Not great that this has happened on a Friday with the whole weekend for him to worry about it. We'll see what the week ahead brings- if we can get him there! Going up a year also means Zac needs even more uniform items... including boys dance-wear, ballet and tap shoes! The next Billy Elliot perhaps!
Bought a new, old car today. Cheapest stationwagon we could find! Might have to hide it round the corner for school drop offs! Its a volvo- nice and safe- Dad would be proud! Just hoping it lasts the next 11 months. Such lovely people at the car yard- they gave me a lesson on diesel cars, tips on all the things required to legally drive in the UK and even a suggested travel itinerary. When my credit card payment could not be processed due to not being able to access my security code - they even let me take the car home on the promise of paying once I got the code. Amazing trust! Very pleased to have another big thing off the "to do" list.
Had a bit of a nerve-wracking first drive home as all of the insurance companies refused an Australian credit card or direct debit from an Australian account. No option but to drive it home uninsured... luckily uneventfully! Apart from the fear of crashing it- it's beautiful to drive!
Spent the night searching for insurance and trying to cheer up little Zac. Hoping a party tomorrow will help!
