Today saw the lovely Arc du Triomphe, Sacre Coeur in the sunshine and the Moulin Rouge. Highlight was visiting the Louvre. Zoe and I got front row view of the Mona Lisa.... so special...unbelievable! Kids had a ball playing on a blasting air vent and making their toys "float". Not quite Marylin Monroe style! Dont want to think about what germs they probably inhaled!
Had a bit of a fright when a police car with sirens blaring came speeding up to us and 2 police jumped out asking (initally in French) to see our bags and wallets. We thought we were in big trouble but thankfully it was only that someone in red had been pick pocketed. Of course, I was in red as always! Bit scary!
Whizzed back to England at 300 km/hour via the undersea channel on the Eurostar after airport-like security checks. They had a wonderful underwater virtual experience for kids that made them feel like they were viewing sea creatures along the way.
Got treated to multiple different Guy Fawkes fireworks displays for the 2.5 hour drive from London to Glemsford. The noise was initally a bit unnerving till we worked out that the booms were just fireworks. Bit on edge after all the recent shootings. Will be pleased to be out of the big cities and back to our little village.
