Bus to Cali from Bogota was very picturesque but one long as journey. Once we arrived, we made friends with this Mexican guy from our bus as he could speak English and so we shared an Uber with him. He wanted go out that night too, so we joined him. We dropped our bags off and got ready to meet him. He knew the area well as he was seeing a French girl from Cali. He took us to this well known salsa bar as Cali is the home of salsa if you didn't know already. Which is why we booked into this hostel that holds free salsa lessons ever night for guest. I never managed to actually take any lessons as all three nights we met up with our "south of the river" mate Seb. As he was here to see his family and his parents who also came out to him to see his Colombian family. So we spent most of our time with Seb before we left him for good. His generous parents paid for us to have the tastiest burger I've had. Also met up with our Aussie friend Jimbo to say goodbye as he was traveling to Ecuador. Jimbo tried to make us do a short hike up to the statue of Christ. But me and Kyle were not having it as we were so hungover we just wanted to watch a film and just chill.
One afternoon, me and Kyle went to Cali Zoo as it was one of the best in South America and was very cheap. Only cost £5 for entry. It was a superb zoo, very surprised to see such a wide variety of animals. The layout of the zoo was really good and wasn't too big to get lost and it all just flowed well. Even though there weren't any shows it was nice just to walk around on your own pace. And more impressively, we only saw maximum 10 other people. So no screaming kids or anything, so peaceful. Day before we were due to leave to Salento, a small coffee town and its surrounding towns. Seb asked if we wanted to join him and his parents and two aunties on a road trip to Salento and the surrounding town for free. Mine and Kyles eyes lit up to the offer. And what better traveling with a bunch of locals. Sebs parents have lived in London for many of years so we could chat to them but I found it difficult to conversate with his Aunties as they spoke no English. Although this gave me the opportunity to practice. Seb's dad is a character, cracked me and Kyle up so many times. They were all very generous by giving us snacks and paid for lunch and dinners.
