Costa Rica boarder was fine but we was in a sticky situation when trying to enter. They wanted proof of our onward travel. We had not organised that far, we never do, plus our onward travel was a bus from Costa Rica’s capital, San Jose. We planned to book transport at the hostel once we arrived. So they wouldn’t let us in without onward travel. Interestingly, there were a few bus company stands right outside, lucky that! They charged us extortionate prices but we had to pay the price. And the only bus they had was a bus from San Jose to Panama city. This was not our plan, as we wanted to to go to Bocas Del Torro in Panama, which is much closer to Costa Rica boarder than Panama city. We decided to skip Bocas, which was a group of beautiful islands in the Caribbean sea and go straight to Panama city. I didn’t see anything of Costa Rica as I spent all my time in bed as I became ill again. I got parasites in my intestines again, because I didn’t finish my course of antibiotics in Nicaragua. It didn’t kill the bug and instead laid eggs in my intestines and came back with vengeance. And because our bus was booked to Panama and I had to leave to travel a painful 10 hours. I felt awful the whole way but the buses were decent and was able to lay down and nap. However it funnily enough got worse once we reached the Panama boarder. It took forever, and it hurt to stand up as I had been sick a few times. Plus at the boarder they wanted to search all our bags, so we had to get our big bags from the bottom of the bus and queue again to get our bags searched. When I say searched, they literally opened the bag and moved one item and said okay. All that for that. These guys literally get paid for fak all. To make it worse, we had hardly made a dent in the distance to Panama. Turned out, a 10 bus journey took nearly 16 hours whilst being sick on the bus floor.
