Hello Everyone :)
Well we had a short 45 minute flight from Mumbai to Goa, it was roasting hot when we arrived, then had to get a taxi to our hotel which took an hour and a half.....longer than the plane journey!!
Our hotel was very basic, think we were expecting a nice beach hut haha, but Goa seemed nice so far. We quickly got showered and freshed up, Shay felt much better as she now got to show her shoulders and knees (not so conservative here) so she got to wear some fresh clothes so she was happy lol. The group headed out to a nice restaurant on the beach front and.....they had Pepper Steak on the menu so we were both more than delighted. Fair to say we were both in heaven when our food arrived, we had been waiting for this meal for 2 weeks haha, it was amazing.
The drinks were also a lot cheaper here so we thought......might as well make the most of the Goa nightlife haha, the two of us, Nathan (from America) Carol (from Canada) and Binu (our leader) headed out to a bar called "Cape Town" they were showing the Man U vs Wolves game so Jonny was in his element, after a few very cheap beers (or Mojitos for Jonny) and Bacardi breezers we moved onto a club sort of place where the guys played pool and we danced, Nathan the American guy has some pretty awesome moves on the dance floor and was fitting in with the locals nicely. Turned into a bit of a wild night and at the end we were all on the dance floor with the locals and some English guys we met, what a laugh. Defiantly the best night so far.
The following day (Sunday) was our only full day in Goa to see the sights, Shay was determined to get up and make the most of it while Jonnys hangover got the better of him. Shay went with the group to see Old Goa and some beautiful churches, but with the heat and maybe a few too many breezers the night before she was struggling big time, lets say alcohol is not our friend today. Old Goa was amazing to see, just a pity Shay wanted to get home and to bed haha. It would have been nice to stay here a few more days in Goa as we were staying in "calangute" which is supposed to be very touristy and not one of the nicest beaches, so I think there was a lot more we could have seen in Goa that would have been even more beautiful, maybe a holiday destination in the future.
After a couple hours nap and shower we were feeling a lot better and met up with the group for our last night together. Binu took us to a nice restaurant that had Karaoke, we both had steaks again.....shock shock, they were not as good as the night before though. We heading out to the same bars and club again, it was another good night, although we were a lot more sober this time :)
It's now Monday and we had to leave 6 people from our group today, so we said our goodbyes and promised to keep in touch, we think we might see 2 of the other girls as they are doing a similar trip to us, so chances are we will meet again. We are onto the second leg of our trip already and away to fly to Kochi, can't believe how fast time is going.
We have had such a good time travelling through the North of India (Rajasthan) the things we have seen and experienced have been unbelievable, the way of life here is crazy compared to home, both very glad we have came to see it for ourselves, there is no way we could have travelled this ourselves, booking the tour was the best way to see Rajasthan, it's been hard going the past two weeks. We have heard that South India is a lot more laid back and some really nice scenery so both looking forward to our next trip.
