We enjoyed our night at the Opry and saw 12 artists perform in a 2-hour program. While we didn't really know the names of any of them, the music was good and some of the ones that we enjoyed were Riders in the Sky who were a band of 4 and did a great rendition of Rawhide, Kalisa Ewing, Chaley Rose who sang 2 beautiful songs and The Willis Clan who are 6 (of 12) siblings who sing and play a variety of instruments.
Today we drove to see Antique Archaeology that features in the TV program American Pickers, after queuing for 20 minutes to get in, it was much smaller than we expected but we did see some large signs and motorbikes that the guys like to collect.
From there we drove out into the country to where Barbara Mandrell lived, it was a small, country town but the area has been developed a bit for tourists with an old country store, a distillery where you could taste rum and Tennessee whiskey and an Italian Restaurant where we enjoyed a leisurely lunch.
We came back to The Opryland Hotel which is near our hotel to look at the magnificent atriums that they have inside this huge, 2881 room hotel. It certainly was impressive.
I've now caught up on the washing and our clothes should get us through the rest of our trip!

Jan Maxwell Your night at the Opry sounds really great! I bet it made you think of Dad, who was there many years ago. Mum said it has moved into a new building. Could you still visit the original Opry or did they pull it down & re-build on the same spot? Enjoy the rest of your trip & keep the blogs coming. xx
Jan Maxwell I just read your previous blog, while I am printing them for Mum & saw the answer to my question about the original Opry. Your visit there would have been really interesting knowing that Dad had been there in the 60's.
