What a great day getting to our destination of Castrogeriz, a small town two days out of Burgen. We walked 20 kms through gently rolling country with lots of picturesque views of ruined churches and other buildings we just couldn’t recognise. Most of the buildings are either falling down or show signs of centuries of carefull repair work as is the case with our Albergue (hostel) where we’re staying the night. Ancient timber beams holding up the ceiling and plaster covering old stone walls. We are pleased there are no bunks, all single beds in roomy dormitory with a big pellet fire. We’ve opted for the set menu tonight as we didn’t want to cook on Mother’s Day. Paella wth chicken.
I paid 5 euros to have my bag carried today and it felt good I skipped along like a spring lamb. Raewyn likes to carry hers so she’s got everything she needs at hand. Got to go now and get my washing off the line tut tut my work’s never done. Good to hear from you Dixie and all you others who comment love to all at home xx
