Relaxing day off in Sibiu. Have uploaded lots of photos. Sibiu is a lively city in the evening with lots of outdoor restaurants. Unfortunately there isn't much lighting so most people have to eat in the dark. Have just seen a British caterham kit car on the London to Athens rally. They've done a similar route to us but are going back via Kosovo, etc. - all in two weeks! The driver looked shattered. He'd had to take off his wipers because they wouldn't stop...

Now in Sibiu after a hectic afternoon. Before leaving UK we read that Romanians were always keen to overtake British bikes to prove how good they were. After today we can confirm that they aren't actually that selective - any vehicle will do. We've managed to get here safely though and passed through some spectacular scenery doing it. More than 2000 miles now covered.

After the chaos of the road yesterday we decided not to continue on the same route (E60) for anther 200 miles, but instead try the E79 to Sibiu. Good news - definitely quieter; bad news - it's been a very slow 90 miles. It took us an hour to do 20 at one point. Broken roads, gravel, cobbles, horses, cows we've had it all today. At one point we felt like we were skiing (the bumps in the road were like Moguls). Earlier on they were resurfacing the road in 500 metr...

Have now left Hungary (where every town has a Tesco) to Romania. First impression is that there is a funny smell everywhere. It could be the pig transporters or chemical factories - not sure. Interesting day on the roads - only witnessed two close accidents between lorries overtaking each other. On the plus side we've got a very nice hotel for our £45 budget.
