Back in Europe now. 230 milea today. Immediately noticed a difference between Greece and the previous 3 countries (Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey). The roads are much better (no pot hole spotting required), no more horse and carts, everything is a bit neater and tidier, the petrol is very expensive (€1.89/litre), and you need to pay in cash everywhere.
Decided to find a nice Greek village next to the sea to stay at. Unfortunately it is already out of season. We turned up at the hotel we had booked at lunchtime to find it empty and closed. When we rang up the owner we were first told that no-one would be at the hotel until 6.30pm, and then sent to another empty hotel down the road with no electricity! Eventually found somewhere next to the beach in the next village. Think we are also the only guests here, but at least the owners are here and it has a nice fish restaurant. Weather looking a bit stormy so don't think we will be going for a swim this evening.
