Anzac Day
We had to make a few panic texts to Amanda but we finally found her house in the uber cool area of Newtown. James needed a hair cut so we wandered into town (and to get away from the strange creature living in Amanda's house!). Amanda came back to collect us and after a delicious roast dinner we headed to the famous Sydney harbour for drinks with some lovely folks from high life. We caught our first glimpse of the bridge all lit up on a clear night, we had arrived in Sydney! We had a great evening meeting Amanda (and Rob, Math & Elle's) colleagues. There was half of Darlington there which was really nice as northerners are so friendly!
The next day, well afternoon ish James and I caught the underground back into the centre and walked around the harbour area. It was Anzac Day (nans bday) and en route across the bridge we saw a huge queue of people waiting to get into a pub to play 2 up, a game we could not understand until the fifth person explained it to us! We learnt later (from Jack) that this was the original place of 2 up so we were delighted we caught a glimpse of the annual tradition. The walk along the bridge was nice and on the other side we got some great shots of the whole harbour. James enjoyed a roast pork roll and then we wandered around Luna park. The rides looked fun but most of them were spinning and neither of us are big fans of those so the walk around was as exciting as we got!
In the evening Amanda made a yummy chorizo pasta and we chilled out in front of the TV. We were all so tired from the night before!
