Wine tasting...it's tough, but someone's got to do it!
We left the small town of Clarence quite early and after a detour to Mainland to get some supplies we arrived in the midst of the Hunter Valley with plenty of time to taste wine.
Our first stop was the original wine makers in this area-Wyndhams. It is possibly the most exported and famous wine from this region although we learnt that the grapes are actually collected from all over Australia. The man giving us the tastings was really friendly we stayed with him for over 40 minutes! By this time I am ashamed to say I was feeling a bit tipsy, it was 2pm and we hasn't eaten lunch yet! We went to a few more wineries and delicious cheese tastings to be honest the rest of the afternoon was a bit of a blur.
We loved the wine tastings here as we didn't have to pay for the tastings so we essentially got tipsy for free!
We parked up at the nearest rest stop and sobered up so we could try some more wines the next day!
We got up so early we were waiting for the winery to open, we looked like a pair of alcoholics. I then disgraced myself further by falling from a stool at 11:30am after 6 tastings and slurred some nonsense! It was at this moment we decided it was best to leave the beautiful Hunter Valley, a great two days!
