Waterfall Way
We were heading back inland to have a look at some more waterfalls! the road is called Waterfall Way so we were hoping to see some top quality falls. Our drivers get to the road was not very pleasant. The roads were full of pot holes and we couldn't see a spot of blue sky. It chucked it down with rain and it was further than we had thought to the nearest rest stop.
We were rewarded on the next day with blue skies and a spectacular first waterfall at Wollombi. It is one of the highest waterfalls in Australia and the gorge seems to come from nowhere it was a real find. Next stop was a lookout point at New England national park but after a 20 minute drive out of our way and along a dirt track there was only white clouds to be seen at the so called lookout point! We were disappointed but we hasn't expected the first waterfall to be as amazing as it was and you can't have everything! Our next waterfall was just outside the little village of Ebor and again we were so surprised at how stunning the scenery was. From the road it looks as if you could be in Wales or the English countryside. There are lots of meadows and a few hills, then out of nowhere there are deep gorges with high fast flowing waterfalls-amazing!
You'd think that would be enough waterfalls in one day but when we got to Dorrigo town the tourist info lady said we must go to Dangar falls. So we do as we are told and we went. The next morning we were aiming for Coffs Harbour but had another lookout to see first. To ensure we actually saw it we got up early (the clouds normally come over in the afternoon) and we were the only people there. It was a great viewing platform and had a catwalk that we 'worked' up and down for a few minutes! We enjoyed the couple of days spent along waterfall way and have ha our waterfall fix for a few weeks anyway!
