Hi all We have based ourselves in Townsville for a next few days to catch up with Darryl and Pam, as well as wait for Terry and Kerry to arrive as from here we will be heading west towards Darwin. One of our first things we wanted to do was to attend the Roosters v Cowboys football game, so that we could get a feel for what it is like to watch footy in balmy, sub tropical conditions. During our stay in Townsville, we decided to catch the ferry to Magnetic Island for the day. Once there we hopped on a bus and head to horseshoe bay which is a beautiful spot but not much there but a Tavern which dish out pretty good meals. But this is where the story ends as there is not much more to see or do on the island. At least the boys enjoyed their ferry ride.

Having committed ourselves to being in Townsville by the 18th May (to attend the Roosters v Cowboys football match), we decided to break up the remaining kilometres by spending a night in Bowen. Hi all Next stop on our journey was Seaforth, which is a sleepy town approx 30 minutes north of Mackay. We decided to stay at the locally run council caravan park (reserve), which although had no direct power or water, had hot showers and was located right on the beach! Although Bundaberg seemed like a nice place and we could probably spend a few more days looking around, we decided to head off to our next destination - Rockhampton - as we knew Friday night was rodeo night at the Great Western Hotel ! Well, it is actually rodeo practice night where local riders (some as young as 4 years) get the chance to practice in the arena which forms part of the pub.
