Although Bundaberg seemed like a nice place and we could probably spend a few more days looking around, we decided to head off to our next destination - Rockhampton - as we knew Friday night was rodeo night at the Great Western Hotel !
Well, it is actually rodeo practice night where local riders (some as young as 4 years) get the chance to practice in the arena which forms part of the pub.
Great pub....great steaks, cold beer and the best kids room.
During the night we heard that the local races were on the next day, thus we decided to attend to see what (if any) differences there are compared to the races in Sydney. Must say, couldn't find much different to Sydney races other than got to park out the front and, didn't have to queue for food, drinks of bets. Choosing the winning horse seemed much the same as Sydney..............in that mine are stilling running.
Other than that, our other adventures in Rockhampton consisted of going to the local markets, cooking up some chilli mud crab, as well as checking out some of the coastal towns.
PS. If in town, the meals at the Victoria Hotel are awesome ! Massive yummy servings.
Cooper's Rockhampton Adventures -
Our next stop is Rockhampton. When we got to Rocky we unpacked the caravan then we went to the Great Western Hotel, home of the best steak in the world. It has a rodeo at the back and has bull horns and heads on the wall. A four year old kid rode a cow, whilst another kid kept on going up and down and when we investigated it was a barrel with a kid on it and another person on the back pushing it up and down. It was funny. None of the people stayed on for 8 sec .
Saturday we went to the horse racing and there was 7 races. I got the most money [which is ten dollars] and I wish to go back there again.
The next day was mother's day and we went to the markets. I bought some honey for 5 dollars and there was whips. There was handmade craft and there is so many cows goats and chickens. Then we went for a drive to Emu Park and Yeppoon and it was windy and the water was brown and disgusting. Then we went to the wind in the sail. The wind in the sail honours Caption Cook and then we went to have lunch at a pub. At the Fish Markets we got two hole big mud crabs and went to the caravan and we went and had Chinese for dinner .
The next day went to the shops to buy the ingredients for chilli mad crab. Then we went Victoria Hotel for lunch I had coconut fish and dad had 3 pieces of crumbed steak. For dessert I had apple crumble. Mum had cheese cake. That night I had chilli mud crab it looked yum and it was yummy. The next stop is Seaforth.
